Summary

In a world where beings start at level 1 and can increase their levels by gaining experience points from defeating monsters, I, too, began at the lowest level. My father, before his passing, imparted the knowledge that strong attack skills were crucial for facing these dangerous creatures and leveling up.

Unfortunately, the skill I inherited was a troublesome one—constantly making me feel hungry. This led to a difficult life in my village, where I was labeled a good-for-nothing and subjected to bullying. After my father’s death, I was cast out of the village and headed to the Royal Capital Seyfat, hoping to find opportunities in the bustling city.

However, reality hit hard as I struggled to secure a decent job. Eventually, I ended up as a daily laborer in the castle guard, a position normally reserved for Holy Knights. The Brenix Family, a noble family, employed me as a substitute due to the 3K conditions—severe, dirty, and dangerous.

Rafal Burnex, the eldest son of the Brenix Family, frequently belittled and mistreated me. Despite my challenging circumstances, I had to endure their arrogance and cruelty, as any resistance could lead to dire consequences.

One day, after receiving my meager daily wage, Rafal and his siblings escalated their torment. They kicked me, insulted me, and even stepped on my hand, relishing in their power over a lowly commoner like me.

Amidst this torment, a voice of reason emerged. Roxis Heart, a Holy Knight with a sense of justice, intervened and saved me from further harm. She scolded Rafal and his siblings, emphasizing the duty to defend people like me.

Roxis offered a glimmer of hope, contrasting the oppressive nature of the Brenix Family. Grateful for her intervention, I exchanged shifts with her at the gatekeeper post.

As I left the scene, Roxis expressed concern for my well-being, but I hurriedly distanced myself, fearing repercussions from the noble family.

Seeking solace, I headed to a familiar bar, where I received a simple meal and cheap wine. The bar owner inquired about my experiences as a gatekeeper, expressing hope that I wouldn’t suffer the same fate as my unfortunate predecessor.

The cycle of mistreatment and struggle continued, but Roxis Heart’s intervention provided a brief respite from the harsh reality of my existence.
