Yasuda Gen’s inaugural full-length animated theatrical endeavor, “Make a Girl,” is slated for a 2025 release, with new main cast members announced. Toshiki Masuda will portray Kunito Obayashi, while Sora Amamiya will take on the role of Akane Yukimura.

At 17 years old, she is Akira’s classmate. Proudly, she discusses how her recent relationship has empowered her, prompting Akira to contemplate the idea of finding a girlfriend himself.
Yukimura Akane (CV: Amemiya Sora)
At 16 years old, she is one of Akira’s classmates. Despite feeling disappointed that Akira seems solely focused on his research, she still shows daily concern for him. Taking on a nurturing role, she looks after him and even cares for No. 0, akin to a mother figure, especially since Akira lacks the means to support himself.
The story unfolds in a future slightly ahead of the present. Akira Mizutame, a young scientific prodigy, achieved success by developing and commercializing a robot assistant called “No. 0,” which significantly enhances people’s lives. However, despite this triumph, Akira finds himself in a rut as his subsequent inventions continuously fail to meet expectations.
During this period of stagnation, Akira learns from a friend that creating a girlfriend could potentially “power him up.” Taking this advice literally, he scientifically engineers an android girlfriend named “No. 0.” As their relationship develops, No. 0 finds herself conflicted between her programmed emotions and genuine feelings that begin to emerge.
The narrative explores the possibility of “love” blossoming between Akira, who struggles with interpersonal communication, and No. 0, caught between her artificial programming and burgeoning emotions. Will their connection evolve beyond the confines of technology, or will they remain trapped in the boundaries of their creator’s design?
